Color and B&W.

I did a studio shoot today with a group at a new photo studio near Newport Beach. The space was great. Very roomy, with lighting gear and backdrops already set up. The owner wasn’t exactly the warmest person in the world, but we got what we needed and made it work.

We had a handful of models, most with a decent amount of experience. But there was one that caught my attention right away. She said she had only done a bit of modeling here and there, but you wouldn’t know it. She posed with ease and barely needed any direction.

The plan was to keep the shots in color since that was the main idea of the shoot. And paint was involved. Lots of it.

But when I started editing, I tried converting one to black and white just to see how it looked. It instantly had more impact, more drama. So I went with it. Sometimes the best results come from straying off the original plan.
