Lighting.

I think I’m getting the hang of manipulating light in a controlled space. I’m used to shooting outdoors where there was just one main light source. The sun. And then adding to it as I went along. In the studio, it’s a whole different game.

Creating and arranging the lights felt like a puzzle. Balancing them and figuring out the angles, and deciding which ones to cut and which ones to add, was overwhelming. Now, the more I do it, the easier it’s getting. And it’s actually kind of fun.

Instead of chasing the sun, I can shape the light exactly how I want it. I can make it soft and flattering or hard and dramatic, without worrying about clouds rolling in. It’s like finally learning to speak a new language I’ve been trying to understand for years.
