Sirens of the Sea.

Did another shoot at Laguna Beach during sunset, this one titled “Sirens of the Sea.” The designer and art director was, if I’m being honest, my least favorite person in the world. But I have to give credit where it’s due. She was actually really good at her job. She had a strong vision for the shoot and knew exactly how to make it happen.

We were lucky enough to get a cute couple to model for us, which ended up being the best decision of the day. At one point, they got completely into the moment. Interacting, laughing, and moving together so naturally that I just kept firing the shutter. You could feel the chemistry between them, and that’s the kind of thing I’m always looking for in my photos. It’s not something you can force. It just happens. And when it does, you grab it and don’t let go.

By the time we wrapped, the tide was coming in and the last light was hanging on the horizon. Looking through the shots later, I could see that mix of connection, movement, and atmosphere that makes a shoot memorable. Sometimes the location and timing are perfect, but it’s the people in the front of the camera who truly make the picture.
