Last-minute.

Rosie gave me a call about doing a shoot nearby. Apparently, a photographer had called off, and she thought of me. I couldn’t say no. It’s hard to pass up a chance to shoot, especially when someone trusts you to step in last minute.

The studio itself was small, and with everyone there it felt like a tight fit. Space was limited, so I had to make it work somewhat. The widest I could go was 30mm on my crop-sensor DSLR, which meant I really had to get creative with angles and framing. As the session went on, though, I started leaning into it. Sometimes those constraints push you to try things you wouldn’t normally attempt.

By the end of the day, I think the shots turned out a lot better than I expected. The limitations forced me to pay more attention to composition and detail, and that gave the set a stronger look overall. Elena was there too, which made the whole thing even better. I was in good company.

All in all, not a bad way to spend an unexpected shoot day.
