Publicity shoot.

By word of mouth, I got recommend for and ended up getting hired to do a publicity shoot for an up-and-coming vocal artist. I could tell this was going to be more involved than my usual shoots. Her manager was deeply engaged in the entire process, from concept brainstorming to the finer details of the shot list. They had a pretty clear vision in mind and wanted everything to align perfectly with her image.

She brought along her own makeup artist and hair stylist, who were both working non-stop between shots to keep her looking flawless. I booked a studio for half the day, making sure we’d have plenty of space, lighting options, and time to get through all the planned setups. To keep things moving smoothly, I brought in a couple of assistants, one to help with lighting adjustments and another to handle gear changes and backdrops.

The shoot itself went better than I could have hoped. The lighting setups we’d planned looked great in-camera, but a few adjustments along the way actually gave us even better results than I was expecting. She was easy to work with. Confident, professional, and willing to try different poses and angles. The energy in the room was focused but still fun, which always makes the hours fly by.

When we wrapped up, she thanked me and handed me a copy of her album, still sealed, waiting on my desk for the right time to listen. If the music is anything like the vibe we had in the studio that day, I think it’s going to be pretty good.
