A local designer reached out to me and a few other photographers to help showcase her latest work. Surprisingly enough, she also works with corsets. But her specialty leans heavily into steampunk. Lately, I’ve been drawn more and more to that style, so this project couldn’t have come at a better time.
The designs were amazing. Highly detailed, layered with thought and creativity. Every outfit had a personality of its own. But Anna stood out the most. It wasn’t just that the corsets fit her well. It was that she wore them like she was born to wear them. Confident, graceful, and completely in character with every shot.
After the group wrapped up and most people packed their gear, Anna and I decided to stay behind a little longer. We switched out into a few more outfits, experimenting, playing with the mood and tone. If it hadn’t been for my batteries draining and my memory card running out of memory, we probably would have kept going until morning.
It’s not often a shoot flows that naturally, but this one did. Sometimes the best photos happen after everyone else has already called it a day.
