Fairytales.

Today’s theme was fairytales, which was definitely a step outside my usual comfort zone. Some of the corsets were designed by Cheri from the Anaheim studio I used to shoot at. As always, her work didn’t disappoint. They were beautiful, detailed, and incredibly well thought out. She has a way of making each piece feel like it belongs in another world.

Two of the models I’ve been wanting to work with agin were there, and it was a pleasure to collaborate with them once more. They make my job easy. Professional, creative, and always willing to push themselves a little further to get the right shot.

The theme itself wasn’t one I was immediately drawn to. But that’s part of why I enjoy it. Different is good. Different is a challenge. And I like a challenge. It pushed me to think in ways I normally wouldn’t, and by the end of the day, I found myself enjoying it.

We shot at a lake in Riverside, which turned out to be the perfect backdrop. Especially for the villain of the story. Down by the water, big roots twisted and spread across the ground, almost like a set designed just for us. The model playing the villain didn’t hesitate to climb down and crawl around them, completely committed to the role, all for the shot.

Overall, it was a fun shoot. New theme, familiar faces, and a location that couldn’t have been better suited. Sometimes stepping into something different reminds me why I keep doing this.
