My wife and I recently took some time off to go camping in the Sequoias. Something we’ve talked about doing for a while but never got around to until now. We split our time between two spots: King’s Canyon and Lodgepole.
King’s Canyon was surprisingly hot during all times of the day, but the scenery more than made up for it. Huge dramatic cliffs, winding rivers, and trees that made us feel small in the best way. Lodgepole was cooler, quieter, and felt a bit more tucked away. We did the usual sightseeing and hiking around.
During our last couple of nights, I decided to try a long-exposure shot of the night sky. It was a calm, still evening around the campfire. No wind, no noise, just the crackle of wood and a sky full of stars. In the city, I’d never be able to capture something like that.
It was our first time camping out there, but definitely not our last.
